Black sambuca liqueur is a dark, anise-flavored Italian liqueur, often colored and flavored additionally with licorice or elderberry. It shares the anise backbone of clear sambuca but leans earthier and deeper due to added botanicals and coloring agents. With a high sugar content and ~38–40% ABV, it drinks like a powerful, aromatic digestif. It is traditionally served as a shot, sometimes with coffee beans, or flamed, and can also be used sparingly in cocktails.
Intense anise, licorice, sweet, slightly earthy.
Served neat or as a shot; used in layered shooters and to add a licorice accent to coffee cocktails, chocolate drinks, or bold, experimental mixes.
