Cherry soda is a non-alcoholic carbonated soft drink flavored to taste of cherry.
Substitutes for Cherry soda
Soda water with cherry syrup rebuilds it and lets you set the sweetness, roughly a barspoon of syrup to a small glass of soda. Another cherry soda swaps one for one and they differ more than the labels suggest. Cherry cola gets close and brings the cola spice with it.
Often confused with
Cherry cola
A cola base with cherry on top, so it carries caramel color and cola spice that a plain cherry soda does not, and in a build with citrus it reads much heavier.
Cherry syrup
Concentrated and still, meant to be diluted. Using it in place of the soda leaves the drink sweet and flat unless you add soda water yourself.
Storage
Sealed, cold and used soon after opening. Once the gas has gone there is nothing to do about it, and a flat cherry soda in a drink is simply sweet red water.
