Coconut liqueur is a sweet, coconut-flavored liqueur on a neutral spirit base, with a creamy tropical character.
Coconut with alcohol and sugar at once, so a rebuild pours all three: a neutral spirit with coconut syrup in roughly equal parts lands on the strength and the sweetness. Fat is the fourth thing, and only a coconut fat brings it.
Coconut rum liqueur
The same coconut flavoring built on white rum rather than neutral spirit. It brings a faint cane sweetness with it, which suits a tiki drink and complicates a clean one. It reads a touch drier and more spirit-forward, and the drink keeps a rum line the neutral version does not give it.
Cream of coconut
A thick non-alcoholic base, not a liqueur. It brings body and no strength, so a drink built on the liqueur loses several degrees and needs the spirit made up elsewhere.
