Often confused with
British and American lemonade
The word means two drinks. In Britain it is a clear carbonated soft drink; in America it is a still, cloudy mix of lemon juice, sugar and water. A recipe written on one side of the Atlantic and read on the other will land wrong.
Lemon-lime soda
Always carbonated and flavored with both fruits, and usually sweeter; it covers the fizzy style and brings lime the recipe did not ask for.
Storage
Sealed it keeps for months. Opened, the carbonated version goes flat within a day, and homemade lemonade separates and needs a stir before it is measured.
