Peanut paste is ground roasted peanuts with nothing added, a thick, oily nut-paste base.
Substitutes for Peanut paste
Natural peanut butter with nothing added behaves the same and is easier to find. Other nut butters fat-wash identically and taste of themselves. A nut liqueur brings flavor with sugar and alcohol and cannot fat-wash anything.

Usually the same paste with salt, sugar, oil or stabiliser added; the additives change how it behaves in a fat-wash and add sweetness the recipe did not plan.
Peanut oil
Pure fat with almost no flavor, since the aroma sits in the solids: it fat-washes cleanly and leaves the drink tasting of nothing much.
Storage
Sealed, cool and dark, stirred back together when the oil separates, which it will. Peanut oil goes rancid and the smell is the only warning: a paste that smells of cardboard or old paint is finished.
