It is whiskey, fruit and spice in one bottle, so the rebuild is to pour them separately: an aged grain spirit with a spoon of a fruit liqueur and a pinch of spice lands close. The fruit alone gives sweetness without the grain underneath it.
Often confused with
Bourbon / aged whiskey
A dry, strong distillate with no sugar in it. The liqueur is sweet, fruity and weaker, with only a whisky note underneath — swap them and the drink needs its sugar rebalanced in either direction.
Description
The base has moved: bourbon first, then neutral spirit with only a trace of whiskey, and whiskey again since 2017 — old recipes were written for a different bottle.
