Mango vodka is a flavored vodka — a neutral base with mango added, sometimes with a little sugar.
Vodka brings the strength and the mango is aroma with sugar behind it more often than not. Mango purée with plain vodka brings the body a flavored bottle cannot.
The liqueur is bottled well under 25% and is sweeter. The drink comes out both weaker and cloying: pour about half as much and drop the sugar from the build.
Mango character comes from a set of volatile esters and lactones that do not last indefinitely once air gets in. Nothing spoils, but a bottle standing half full through a slow winter will come out of it noticeably vaguer than it went in.
