Coconut rum liqueur is a sweet coconut liqueur built on a white rum base. The rum cuts through the sweetness and adds a light alcoholic warmth to the tropical profile.
Rum, coconut and sugar in one bottle at about 20%, so it rebuilds as to pour them: white rum and coconut syrup in equal parts lands on both the strength and the sweetness. If the drink needed the creamy weight, that comes from a coconut fat, not from a syrup.
Coconut liqueur (neutral spirit)
Lacks the rum finish; using it won’t break the drink’s balance, but the flavor profile will be slightly flatter.
Cream of coconut
A thick, non-alcoholic coconut syrup. Unlike the clear liqueur, it makes drinks opaque and gives them a heavy, creamy texture (it is the essential ingredient for a classic Piña Colada).
