Cocktails with Elderflower liqueur
Elderflower liqueur is a sweet, spirit-based liqueur flavored with the blossoms of the elder (Sambucus nigra).

Substitutes for Elderflower liqueur
Mix two parts elderflower cordial to one part vodka and use it in the same amount. It comes close in sweetness at about two-thirds the strength. Cordials vary in sugar, so taste as you go.
Cheaper liqueurs
Some are made with flavoring rather than an infusion of the flowers. Taste before pouring all of it.
Storage
The aroma is delicate and fades with time, and the liqueur can darken toward amber if kept too long. Store sealed, away from heat and light, and use within a year or so of opening.
