History

The name of this modern cocktail echoes "The Kummel Ye Faithful," an older drink of equal parts gin, kümmel, and cream printed in Judge Jr.'s book Here's How Again! The two drinks share little beyond the name and the kümmel itself, so the older one is a namesake rather than a direct ancestor.
