Cocktails with White overproof rum
White overproof rum is clear rum bottled far above standard strength, usually at or past navy strength.

How it's used
At this strength it takes over a drink, so it often goes in smaller measures than standard white rum. It is the base of strong Caribbean rum punches, a float for extra strength, and the rum for flaming, since it lights readily.
Substitutes for White overproof rum
Close in alcohol (about 57%) and works one for one. It adds color and a heavier flavor.
A standard 40% rum works in the same amount, but the drink loses about a third of its alcohol. Floated on top, it is hard to light.
