White overproof rum is a clear, unaged cane spirit bottled far above standard strength, typically 55–75% ABV, and usually at or past the historic 57.15% navy proof point.

Substitutes for White overproof rum
Strength and clarity are doing the work together, and strength is the half nothing else supplies. The flavor is easy to match; without the proof neither a float over a tiki drink nor a flame will happen at all.
Often confused with
Standard white rum sits at 37.5–40% against 55–75%. In a Zombie, or floated on top of a tiki drink, it simply vanishes: a 7–8 ml accent has no strength to carry it, and it will not flame at all.
Navy strength is the 57% mark, the low end of the same ground. In the glass the difference is small: swap measure for measure, and only with the strongest bottlings (70% and up) pull back about a quarter.
