Substitutes for Galliano L’Autentico liqueur
Vanilla over anise on a sweet base is the shape, and most anise bottles bring only the second half. Add vanilla syrup half a barspoon at a time to close the gap, and expect the herbal layer underneath to stay missing.
Often confused with
Galliano Vanilla
A simplified version of the liqueur focusing almost entirely on vanilla. It has a much lower ABV (30%) and lacks the powerful anise and herbal backbone required for classic recipes like the Harvey Wallbanger.
Sambuca
Sambuca is a straightforward anise liqueur; Galliano layers vanilla and a herbal bill on top of its anise. Sambuca in its place leaves a Harvey Wallbanger flatter and purely aniseed, with the vanilla gone.
Description
