Pre-chill a glass
Shake all ingredients with ice: White rum 60 mlGalliano L’Autentico liqueur 10 mlLime juice 15 mlSugar syrup 10 ml
Fine strain into the chilled glass

Tips

Squeeze the lime right before shaking so its aroma holds up next to the Galliano's herbal sweetness.
Keep the Galliano to 10 ml; its vanilla and anise should season the rum and lime, not take over the daiquiri.

History

The Daiquiri Authentico keeps the rum, lime, and sugar frame of the Daiquiri but adds Galliano L'Autentico, an herbal-vanilla liqueur, for a spiced, aromatic layer. By one eyewitness account, Jennings Cox, the American engineer widely credited with the Daiquiri, at first likened his drink to a Whiskey Sour.
