Cocktails with Light gold rum
Light gold rum is a rum aged briefly in oak barrels, placing it in color and character between unaged white rum and richer dark rum.

Substitutes for Light gold rum
In the same amount, gives a lighter, paler drink.
In the same amount, gives a rounder and slightly darker drink.
A bigger change: molasses and spice take over and the color goes much darker.
On the label
- Gold / Golden
- The least reliable word on a rum label. The color can come from oak or from caramel added at the end, and in the glass the two look the same. Without an age statement, it tells you nothing about time in wood.
