Cocktails with Tequila reposado
Tequila reposado is blue-agave tequila rested in oak from two months to about a year. It keeps blanco’s cooked-agave taste and gains a pale gold color, soft vanilla and a rounder edge.
ABV35–55%That is the legal range, and most reposado is bottled at 40%.
Substitutes for Tequila reposado
Works in the same amount: sharper and greener, without the vanilla and the pale gold.
Also works, with more oak and vanilla.
A choice only if you want smoke in the drink.
On the label
- "100% de agave" vs mixto
- A mixto reposado blends in other sugars and often caramel, so look for "100%".
- additives / "additive-free"
- Even "100% agave" may legally carry up to 1% additives, such as oak extract, coloring, glycerin or sugar, with no obligation to declare them. An "additive-free" mark flags a bottling without them.
