Watermelon and Basil Cocktail

A muddled gin sour made with fresh watermelon and basil, shaken with London dry gin and sugar syrup and fine-strained up. Fresh watermelon juice carries a cool, faintly sweet base while torn basil adds a peppery, herbal lift, finishing clean and dry from the gin.

Instructions for 1 serving
- Pre-chill a glass
- Cut Watermelon into 16 segments, chop the flesh from one segment into cubes and muddle in the base of the shaker
- Add the remaining ingredients: Fresh basil leaves 7 pcsLondon dry gin 60 mlSugar syrup 15 ml
- Shake with ice
- Fine strain into the chilled glass
- Garnish with a watermelon wedge on the rim
Tips
- Muddle the watermelon cubes gently in the shaker base to release juice without pulverizing the rind or seeds.
- Cut the watermelon garnish wedge before you start mixing so it doesn't weep juice while the shaker rests.
- Shake hard and fine-strain to keep muddled basil flecks and pulp out of the glass for a clean, bright pour.
