Autumn
A fruity, bubbly and sour vodka cocktail ∙ Dry shake ∙ 5 min ∙ 17.6% ABV ∙
The Autumn is a shaken vodka sour built with fresh passion fruit, passion fruit syrup, unsweetened apple cider, and egg white, served up in a martini glass. Silky and foamy from the egg white, tart passion fruit leads while the apple cider adds a mellow, orchard-fruit undertone through a soft, lingering finish.

Instructions for 1 serving
- Pre-chill a glass
- Cut a Passion fruit 1 pc in half and scoop out the flesh from each shell into the shaker
- Add the remaining ingredients and dry-shake without ice: Vodka 60 mlApple cider (unsweetened) 30 mlPassion fruit syrup 15 mlEgg white 15 ml
- Shake again with ice
- Fine strain into the chilled glass
- Express an orange twist over the cocktail and use as garnish
Tips
- Dry-shake the vodka, apple cider, passion fruit syrup, egg white and scooped fresh passion fruit pulp first without ice for a full 15 seconds to build stable foam.
History
The Autumn cocktail was created in 2004 by a British drinks writer as an inspired take on Max Warner's Autumn Punch, a cocktail Warner had created in 2001 at the Baltic Bar in London. The drink was originally served straight up in a martini glass and, following the naming convention of the day, was first called the Autumn Martini, one of a wave of so-called "Alternatinis" that reworked the classic Martini format with new flavor combinations. It later became known simply as the Autumn cocktail.
