Pre-chill a glass
Stir all ingredients with ice: London dry gin 60 mlDry vermouth 10 ml
Strain into the chilled martini cocktail glass
Squeeze oil from lemon peel onto the drink, or garnish with an olive if requested

History

Dry Martini – IBA is the International Bartenders Association's standardized dry formula: gin stirred with a small proportion of dry vermouth. The ratio grew steadily leaner over the decades as public taste favored drier styles, from the Dry Martini 2:1 of 1922 to the Dry Martini 5:1 and drier in later decades. This IBA recipe uses 60 ml of gin to 10 ml of vermouth, a 6:1 ratio.
